What makes a city - People! What makes a company - People! How fitting then, that on TISCO's 10th Anniversary, we celebrate the many extraordinary People who have helped to make Bangkok the exciting metropolis it is today. TISCO which has, in its small way, had a hand in furthering the development of this bustling, vibrant city nestled along the Chao Phraya River, is pleased to sponsor this photo collection of Bangkok-City of Angels, A Study in Black and White. We join with the two talented photographers, Lynne Bundesen and Peter J. Kneisel, in dedicating this book to you, the people of Bangkok. It is not every city that can boast of having its own personal historians and very few cities are elegant or colorful enough to warrant a true pictorial record. But, as this grand old lady of Asian cities, still so young in appearance, approaches her 200th year, we, the Management Team of TISCO, wanted to be among the first to acknowledge this important, coming event. To Bangkok, City of Angels, we offer then this gift, a portrait of the many people, young and old, powerful and poor, glorious and unsung...all graced with the infinite charm that has for so long been a characteristic of the Thai people. As the years go by, we hope this memento of a particular time and place, will bring back happy thoughts and memories. With this collection of portraits we have tried to present to you a cross-section of the many people that make up this city. All of them have been kind enough to allow their pictures to be taken and their photographs to appear in this publication. To you then, the people of Bangkok, we say HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
